About The 32 Metronome Project

The 32 Metronome Project is a MOVEMENT to create change by engaging life more MINDFULLY. Through cultivating the art of attention, the practice of awareness and compassion strung along the thread of collaboration, the 32 Metronome Project is the platform in which such a change is possible. We work with both businesses and individuals to bring together community and inspire people to live life more mindfully.

Changing Minds

The 32 Metronome Project challenges us to DO something different. It is a calling to engage life more mindfully – to pay attention, to slow down, and to truly listen. It dares us to disrupt old patterns and demands us to defy the parameters of what we know. It is a shift into a new paradigm in which we smile more, give more and show more love and respect to ourselves and one another.

Creating Change

When we commit to DOING something different we create a shift. This shift begins within. It begins with a subtle vibration. Since we are all universally united, this vibration touches the lives of our friends, then friends of friends, until eventually our collective consciousness is positively impacted by the simple smile that sparked it all.

Change Starts Now

In order to create change it has to start here and now. If we continue doing what we have always done then we will end up where we have already been.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

Albert Einstein

Here is a little story

The 32 Metronome Project is a story of how changing our minds creates change; a lesson on how to shift from an antiquated paradigm, to a new way of being. It is the story of how three mutually exclusive events shape the way in which we bring awareness into the act of consuming.

The Three Events

The Video

The story began with a YouTube video I stumbled upon one morning. In the short vignette, 32 metronomes were set off at varying times. A metronome is a device that produces consistent metrical ticks, in order for musicians to keep rhythm. The 32 metronomes start off moving to the beat of their own drum and because of their staggered start points, they produce an erratic medley of sound much like a torrential downpour. After two minutes, as if cast under a hypnotic spell, one by one the metronomes start to tick-tock in synchronized rhythm. By minute four they were singing in harmony. I was astonished.

When we realize the extent of the myriad interconnections which link us to all other life, we realize that our existence only becomes meaningful through interaction with and in relation to, others.

The Quote

Later that day, after my encounter with the metronomes, I was sitting in front of my computer and I came across a quote once spoken by Albert Einstein. How I ended up with these brilliant words in my lap I am not sure. It was as if my computer downloaded it from spirit and delivered it to me for inspiration. Einstein’s words were music to my ears and played over in my mind throughout the afternoon.

We can’t solve problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

Albert Einstein

The Wristband

Toward the end of the day, I was met with the third eye opening encounter. Prior to teaching a yoga class, I was standing at the front desk and saw a small box displaying wristbands. The wristbands were made from recycled fabric and there was a sign attached that explained how part of the purchase of each wristband goes to clean water efforts in Haiti. At first thought, I was glad to see another philanthropist giving their heart for the greater good. However, that initial feeling was quickly followed by another – is this becoming a trend?

Hatred, can never cease by hatred. Hatred can only cease by love. This is an eternal law.

What Can We Do?

Consumertarianism and Solution

What was the correlation between these three events? I spent the next few days contemplating their relativity and eventually sat down to write. I drafted an article titled, “Consumertariansim: Created Minds, Creating Solutions.” Consumertarianism was a term I pinned to reflect the stitching of consumerism and humanitarianism.

The theme that links these seemingly disconnected events is vibration. It was by vibration that the metronomes eventually came into perfect harmony. Then there was Einstein’s quote that illuminates the fact that we cannot experience change in the world without a shift to our minds, thoughts, and our source of energy – our vibration. The message of the video and Einstein’s quote are what prepared me for my encounter with the wristbands. It was the relationship of these experiences that inspired me to contemplate our philanthropic efforts.

What We Are Seeing

We are seeing significantly more and more people jumping on the bandwagon to raise charitable funds through the sale of goods and services. Their mission – to reduce crisis, destruction, illness, or suffering in the world.  The irony here is, consumerism significantly contributes to the problems our humanity is facing. Whether it is the consumption of oil, weapons, land or power, our actions of purchasing and giving are being done at the same vibrational level of our problems.

We are buying the shoes, wearing the wristband, flooding Facebook and Twitter with ‘remedies for relief’, but we, as a collective people, are not creating a mind that support the glamor of giving. Too many of us are still living our lives passing judgement, holding hate, not caring for both themselves and others. Our humanity is buried deep in material possessions, is sad and defeated. In moments where I stumble upon a box of wristbands promoting relief in Haiti, I am grateful for the financial support being extended to those in need, but realize this is not going to solve our global suffering.

Raising the Vibration

The 32 Metronome Project challenges us to shift from an old model of consumerism where we simply BUY and RECEIVE. It is a commitment to DO something different and allow that doing to be how we GIVE back. It is a challenge to enter the world each and every day with a smile. Not just one that superficially rests above the chin, but an inner smile that penetrates a change seeking heart. Inner peace, mindfulness and self affection are what will raise our vibration to the solution, which in turn will dispel the darkness. Like the 32 metronomes, this higher vibration will be contagious and someday we all will be united in harmony. It is only then, by shifting our consciousness that we will solve our global crisis.

Services We Offer

The practice of mindfulness and the cultivation of transformation requires an ongoing commitment and effort. It is only through consistency that change is possible. The 32 Metronome Project supports this in three ways:

Services We Offer

I am Change

is our events that we host throughout the year. The events are simply to gather as a community, to raise our vibration together and through the practice of cultivating awareness, to send that vibration out into the universe. All of the events begin with a guided meditation and an opportunity to receive a 32MP shirt as a symbol of your commitment to be more mindful.

I am Support

is our platform to help local businesses develop consumer-based mindful efforts to elevate their vibration and create an environment that supports this change. Through utilization of yoga, meditation and mindfulness we will help leverage creativity, productivity and unity while being more involved in community, fundraising, and building awareness of the practice of mindfulness.

I am Mindful

is our online community of mindful entrepreneurs, businesses, and those in the community out there making a difference. This link is a great resource for wisdom, insight, and inspiration. Through social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn we will help promote the I AM MINDFUL community and help them help others.
